What inspired you to establish An-nur school, Sir? 

An-nur Nursery and primary school is a child of necessity. The name An-Nur and her logo are from three schools that are responsible for what I am today. One Ansarul Islam primary school, Oke Imale, whose motto is Al llimu Nurun, meaning Knowledge is light. Second, the School for Arabic Studies Kano Motto is “NURUN’ALA NURI”, light upon light.  Bayero University Kano logo is crescent, which is also an indication of light. 

I, therefore, chose what is common to all the schools that I went through. Of course, the University of Ilorin is also a place where I benefited a lot. So the name An-nur tells the story of my educational background. 

The N/P school was established when I was looking for a school that Ummulkhair and Abdulhafiz would enrol in. It was obvious to me that the existing primary schools then could not satisfy all that I wanted. I, therefore, decided to lay a foundation that would benefit not only my own children but also the generality of our Muslim children. 

It is true that before the establishment of An-nur in February 1997, there were many Muslim schools but not Islamic Schools. Our own attempt is to combine qualitative Western education with well-balanced Islamic knowledge. An-nur stands out today, as far as we know, as the only Nursery and Primary school where Islamic studies are taught in Arabic. Also, the students complete the recitation of the Holy Quran and memorise part of it before they finish their primary and secondary education.

Our achievements cannot be overemphasized. We are grateful to Allah. Wherever the students of An-nur find themselves, they are shining stars, as the name depicts. The school/students attended many competitions both within and outside the state. 

Al-hamdullilah, they were adjudged to be among the best.
